The Universal Brake Control Wiring Adapter Ford, Land Rover, Lincoln, Mercury, part # 3035-S, will fit Land Rover LR3 and Range Rover within the model years 2005-2007. We do not have a plug-in adapter for the 2003 Land Rover Defender. That would lead me to believe that there is not a port under the dash of that year, make and model of vehicle. I do have a potential solution for you, but I do not have an extender that will measure exactly 12". At least nothing that will be rated for use while flat towing. I do have a 14" hitch extender from Gen-Y part # GY89SR. This is rated for 10,000 lbs towing and 500 lbs tongue weight.
It is recommended to use an anti rattle device like part # e99007 when using an extension. This will help to reduce any additional play at the hitch. You will also need a second hitch pin like the # e98880.

We do offer a range of wiring adapters for U.S. standard trailer wiring to convert from, for example, 7-way to 4-way, 5-way or 6-way wiring. These various connector types are shown in the linked article on trailer wiring.
